Why preordering no longer works?
- 25 Jun, 2020
If you are on our preorder list please read this article as we can no longer service your requirements, this article explains why.
Due to the current demand and the shortage of materials we have been totally overwhelmed by the higher than normal demand for our paving products, we are getting hundreds of emails, social media messages and calls every day and we are struggling to get back to everyone which we understand is very frustrating for you and for us.
The demand for our products hugely outweighs the number of products that we are getting in stock and our preorder facility that was in operation prior to the 15th June is no longer an efficient way to serve our customers – our approach has to change
High demand – restricted supply
We always want to be as open as possible and initially, the preorder facility was used as a way to service customers that were happy to wait for a few weeks, this was based on an assumption that we would have a steady stream of products arriving and the wait time would be up to 4 weeks.
Unfortunately, it is now becoming increasingly evident that the supply chain issues will continue for some time, we source our products directly from quarries in countries such as India, Brazil and China. Unfortunately, COVID 19 continues to negatively impact their ability to operate and serve us with the consistent flow of materials we require to satisfy the demand.
Transparency and being honest with customers
We don’t feel that it is fair to keep customers waiting for weeks on end when we have no reliable way of knowing when and how much stock will arrive. Right now, the only way we can secure stock is to pay a higher price (premium) to get priority, but of course, this will also increase our online prices. As a company that strives to deliver great value, this goes against our ethos, but these price hikes are now inevitable and therefore regrettably prices will have to increase across a number of our product lines, this is likely to be the case across the sector. We shall always commit to offering customers the greatest value
Ultimately this means we have no choice but to retire the preorder facility with immediate effect. We will be notifying existing preorder subscribers by text very shortly.
As they say, honesty is the best policy and we really feel it’s our duty to explain the situation as it unfolds. We would rather do this now so customers can make alternative arrangements for their projects.
The new approach – first come, first served
Moving forward we will keep the relevant product pages updated with information about when stock will be arriving. It’s very likely that demand for some popular products will be greater than the stock arriving, therefore stock will be sold on a first come first served basis
We will periodically update the product page with the next delivery of stock so you can see if you have been unsuccessful the first time to secure stock on the next round. We will continue this approach until normal inflows of stock start arriving so we can return to a more “normal” way of serving customers i.e. from plentiful supplies of stock in our warehouses.
I hope this helps to explain the difficulties that we are currently facing and we urge you to keep checking our website for the latest updates.
Thank you in advance for your understanding – stay well and keep safe.
